After Wednesday's meeting, the Board of Supervisors headed to the Pinal County Animal Care and Control Center at Eleven Mile Corner to cut the ribbon on a
$7-million renovation and extension of the facility.
The existing 4,200 sq. ft. Administration Building has undergone renovation, while an additional 6,000 sq. ft. has been added. The new addition contains a large open lobby, with bright and spacious visitor waiting areas, adoption and admission sections, a cat display area, dog meet-and-greet rooms, and a complete animal services clinic.
Behind the scenes, much-needed infrastructure improvements have been made to sewer drains and septic systems, while all kennel doors have been replaced.
Outdoor upgrades include new visitor parking, secured employee parking, a dog-walking path around the Complex, secure outdoor dog play areas with covered canopies, and a CCTV Security System.
As well as serving unincorporated Pinal County, Animal Care & Control also services most Pinal County cities and towns through Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs). The facility has been operating significantly overcapacity for a number of years.
This month, PCACC is offering waived adoption fees for animals 7 years and older, $25 adoptions for animals 6 months and older, and $50 adoptions for animals under 6 months.
The shelter is located at 1150 S Eleven Mile Corner Rd, Casa Grande, AZ 85194.
