Area teens and adults are invited to a presentation to learn about the architecture of Denby M. Deegan, Surrounded by Enemy. The event is a community lecture titled "The Architecture of Surrounded by Enemy, Denby M. Deegan" and will be presented by Jennifer Brandel, architect and former faculty member at North Dakota State University, and Lisa Eggebraaten, NDSU Librarian, on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at the downtown Main Library. This event is for teens and adults interested in architecture and history. No registration is required for this free event. For more details, contact Lori West at 701.476.5977.
Deegan, Surrounded by Enemy (1941-2018), was a member of North Dakota's Three Affiliated Tribes, and in 1965, Deegan earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from NDSU. In 2021, NDSU Archives accepted Deegan's collection for long- term preservation. The exhibit showcases just a few of his projects in North Dakota. Each project reflects his dedication to celebrating Native American heritage.
An accompanying exhibit, "The Architecture of Surrounded by Enemy, Denby M. Deegan," is on display at the downtown Main Library through the month of November.
Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public; adults must accompany children ages 9 and younger.
