Greetings to readers of the encyclopaedia Russia’s Greatest Monuments

The message reads, in part:

"The history of monumental art in our country spans centuries. The talent, creative inspiration and skill of outstanding architects, sculptors and artists have given rise to distinguished, world-renowned monuments and memorials dedicated to the military victories and labour achievements of our people, as well as to eminent writers and poets, scientists and military commanders, statesmen and religious figures who have brought glory to the Fatherland.

We are rightly proud of our unique cultural and spiritual heritage, and we carefully preserve and foster the traditions of creative endeavour that have been handed down through the generations. I would like to make special mention of the efforts of public and charitable organisations, volunteers and search teams, who contribute to the restoration and construction of new memorial complexes. These include the Battle of Kursk memorial in the settlement of Ponyri, the Prince Alexander Nevsky and His Retinue memorial in the Pskov Region, the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier, and steles in cities of labour valour. This vital and truly selfless work plays an important role in the upbringing of the younger generation based on traditional spiritual, moral and patriotic values, and in fostering respect for every chapter and era of our national history.

I am confident that the encyclopaedia Russia's Greatest Monuments will inspire sincere and genuine interest among readers of all ages, professions and backgrounds, and will serve to advance historical and cultural enlightenment."
