ATTORNEY GENERAL RAOUL, DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS ANNOUNCE UPDATES TO BENEFITS FOR ILLINOIS VETERANS GUIDE

Chicago - Ahead of Veterans Day at the Illinois State Fair Aug. 16, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Illinois Department of Veterans (IDVA) Affairs Director Terry Prince encourage Illinois service members, veterans and family members to review recent updates to the 2026 Benefits for Illinois Veterans Guide.

"We are proud to have worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs to update the only comprehensive benefits guide designed for Illinois veterans, which combines federal, state and municipal benefits in one convenient publication," Raoul said. "My office will continue its dedication to Illinois service members, veterans and their families to ensure they receive and understand the benefits they have earned by committing their lives to this great nation."

"The Benefits for Illinois Veterans Guide reflects our shared commitment to providing veterans across the state comprehensive, accurate information on their earned benefits and services," Prince said. "We are grateful to Attorney General Kwame Raoul and his dedicated team for including the expertise of IDVA's veteran service officers to create this important resource for veterans. Our collaboration is an example of the impact of working together to serve those who served."

Raoul's Military and Veterans Rights Bureau worked with the IDVA and its veteran service officers to ensure the guide provides service members, veterans and their families with the most accurate and up-to-date information on benefits and services.

Updates to the 2026 Benefits for Illinois Veterans include:

• How to apply for federal and state benefits.
• How to appeal a denial of federal and state benefits.
• How to obtain administrative and advocacy assistance.
• Available federal and state benefits for service-disabled veterans and their families.

Visitors to the Illinois State Fair can access copies of the 2026 Benefits for Illinois Veterans at The Shed on Aug. 16 where Raoul's Military and Veterans Rights Bureau will have an information table for the Illinois State Fair's Veterans Day Resource Fair. The guide can also be accessed on Raoul's website.
