State Senate Declares April 26 through May 2, 2026, “Conservation District Week” in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG -The state Senate recently declared the week of April 26 through May 2, 2026, "Conservation District Week" in Pennsylvania, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. Yaw sponsored Senate Resolution 273 alongside Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47), chair of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.

"Through leadership, education and planning, our county conservation districts are committed to protecting our natural resources," said Yaw. "They are the boots on the ground, and they work to develop programs and projects consistent with environmental stewardship.  I am proud to extend warm wishes to our county conservation districts and recognize next week as 'Conservation District Week' in Pennsylvania."

During this week, conservation districts across the state hold events and meet with legislators in their home counties. These volunteer directors and staff address conservation concerns in their community.

"Conservation District Week is an opportunity to turn the spotlight on 66 individual offices across the commonwealth that work every day to improve water quality and soil health," said Amy Brown, executive director of the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD). "With offices in every county except Philadelphia, conservation district professionals are experts on local water and soil issues. Their work makes your community a better place to live, work and raise families."

The PACD serves as the collective voice for Pennsylvania's 66 county conservation districts. Over the years, PACD has played an integral part in shaping the modern conservation district, as well as providing advocacy, education and training, program coordination and facilitation to districts and their constituents.

The Association has earned a reputation for effectively tackling new challenges, working directly with private organizations, business and industry partners and many federal and state agencies. Through a statewide network, the PACD leadership supports a multitude of locally led conservation efforts and stands ready to address future issues.
