International-Award-Winning Classical Guitarist to Perform at the Bettendorf Public Library October 8, 2025 - The Bettendorf Public Library is getting ready to host an international-award-winning classical guitarist for a free, unique concert that has been described as "an unforgettable journey to a world you've probably never been to." On Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 2-3 p.m., the community is invited to gather and listen to An Tran, who has won more than a dozen international guitar competitions and music awards, including top prizes from the Berlin International Guitar Competition, the New Orleans International Guitar Competition, and the Society of American Musicians Guitar Competition.Born in Vietnam, An Tran started playing the guitar at the age of 8 and attended the Vietnam National Academy of Music. He then moved to the United States and is currently the guitar professor at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts, University of Illinois Chicago, and Northern Illinois University, where he established the NIU International Guitar Concert Series and serves as a faculty affiliate at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies. He is also the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Chicago Artopia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making art accessible to everyone on the Southwest side of Chicago.This special concert is part of the library's Global Gathering event, which is a two-month program that takes place every two years.
