Final Cut Camera now supports variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro

With iPhone 18 Pro, users can take advantage of the new Fusion Main camera with variable aperture - the most advanced camera Apple has ever made - which brings aperture control to iPhone for the first time. Final Cut Camera allows creators to precisely dial in their aperture settings, or choose between shutter priority and aperture priority modes, to record stunning videos. The update also unlocks Cinematic mode effects for regular video, including footage captured in ProRes and Apple Log, allowing creators to adjust focus points and depth of field while editing in Final Cut Pro.

With iOS 27, Final Cut Camera adds support for professional video scopes, clean SDI out, and genlock offset. Now creators can accurately monitor their video using the RGB Parade - which displays the red, green, and blue colour channels to help check colour balance and exposure - and the histogram. With clean SDI out, creators can send a clean video signal using an HDMI-to-SDI converter for broadcast-quality streaming. And with genlock offset, creators can compensate for image artefacts from a recorded display or for latency differences between their iPhone and other genlocked cameras.

  Final Cut Camera, the professional filming app for iPhone, receives a major update with version 2.4, adopting a new design, adding support for variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro, and giving creators even more pro options with the release of iOS 27. The new version is available as a free software update beginning today, September 29.

  Redesigned from the ground up, Final Cut Camera gives creators even easier access to popular settings like shutter angle, ISO, and white balance, along with customisable overlays, including false colour and clipping indicators for proper exposure, and improved focus peaking with sensitivity control. A new tally light indicates when recording is underway, and a two-finger tap now clears the viewfinder so users can focus on the shot.
