Officer Involved Shooting

Santa Monica, CA - Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to Palisades Park near the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a reported domestic violence incident. While officers were interviewing witnesses, an unrelated individual armed with a knife charged at the officers. An officer discharged their firearm, striking the individual.
Santa Monica Fire Department personnel provided emergency medical care, and the individual was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The involved officer was not injured.
The scene remains active as investigators preserve evidence and conduct the preliminary investigation. The public is asked to avoid the area. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
