On March 17, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Mrs. Francisca Escobar, Permanent Representative of Mexico, to exchange views on global health and major international issues.
Ambassador Jia Guide stated that China and Mexico, both influential members of the Global South, have seen their comprehensive strategic partnership continue to deepen across the board in the new era. In today's world, amidst growing uncertainties and severe challenges to the multilateralism, both sides should continue to strengthen solidarity and cooperation, safeguard their respective legitimate rights and interests, uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, and support the WHO in playing the central coordinating role in the global health architecture.
Ambassador Escobar appreciated China's firm support for multilateralism and its constructive contributions to global health governance. She expressed Mexico's willingness to further strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international affairs, jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries, and promote the improvement of global health governance.
