Rep. Andrea Salinas' Statement on Supreme Court's Decision to Strike Down Trump's Tariffs

"Today, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to strike down President Trump's tariffs, which are making life more costly for Oregonians.

"Tariffs can be a strategic tool when used thoughtfully. But President Trump's approach was anything but strategic. His sweeping tariffs drove up costs everywhere, from groceries to wood products, with goods doubling or even tripling.

"Uncertainty has defined much of Trump's economic agenda. And when families and businesses lack certainty, they pull back - spending less, investing less, and hiring less.

"Since the beginning, I've spoken out against these reckless tariffs, sponsored bills and resolutions that would rein in the Trump Administration's chaos, and joined amicus briefs urging the Supreme Court to reject them. I'm relieved the Supreme Court recognized this overreach of power and the direct harm they inflicted on Americans and took action to stop it."
