CCM provides unparalleled opportunities for student musicologists to learn and grow in a thriving, next-generation city known for its intense interest in the arts. Musicology degrees offered include: MM, PhD and combined MM/PhD programs. Learn more about CCM Musicology.

Musicology students at CCM work closely with internationally recognized musicology faculty. In addition, students engage with the rich and diverse CCM arts community, which includes composition, theory, performance, media production, plus other majors and programs that span the spectrum of the performing and media arts. CCM Musicologists also pursue interdisciplinary research across campus.

Graduate students are given ample opportunities to teach both lower and upper-level courses and develop pedagogical skills. The curriculum is designed to help students:

  • Develop into effective teachers, capable of inspiring the next generation of musicians, scholars and audiences;
  • Become engaging researchers, pushing the boundaries of musical knowledge and understanding;
  • Hone their skills as excellent communicators across a range of platforms, articulating complex ideas with clarity and precision; and
  • Emerge as valued leaders of diverse organizations, from academic institutions to cultural centers.

Graduate talent and merit-based scholarships and assistantships with competitive stipends are available for qualified applicants. The assistantships include single coverage health insurance. CCM also provides support opportunities for student research, conference attendance and dissertation completion.
