Parkside Apartments Opens, Bringing 144 Affordable Homes to Raleigh

Just over a year after breaking ground, the vision for Parkside Apartments has become a reality, bringing 144 affordable homes to families in Raleigh.

"Parkside Apartments is exactly the kind of investment Raleigh needs: quality, affordable homes located close to jobs, transit, and opportunity," said Mayor Janet Cowell.

Located near the future Western Boulevard BRT, the community gives families access to jobs, schools, public transportation, and other important services. Residents also have access to a fitness center, playground, business center, community room, and other shared amenities.

The City used $6 million from the 2020 Affordable Housing Bond to buy the site in 2023, and then signed a long-term lease with Blue Ridge Cascade to make the project possible. The City also partnered with Wake County, which invested $5.7 million in the project.

Through the City's Affordable Housing Plan, Raleigh is expanding housing choices, supporting affordable housing development, and helping more residents find safe, stable, and affordable places to live.

Projects like Parkside Apartments are part of Raleigh's broader approach to addressing housing affordability.
