The WFTU expresses its internationalist solidarity with the teachers' struggle in Turkey, who for years have been resisting, with multiple forms of struggle, the privatization policies that have systematically undermined teachers' job security, working conditions, and fundamental labor rights.
Despite the numerous official meetings with the Ministry of National Education, the Parliamentary Education Commission, and the Ministry of Labor, as well as the government's promises, no meaningful progress has been achieved.
Moreover, we condemn the systematic violation of democratic trade union rights and freedoms.
We demand an immediate end to all detentions, restrictions, and all other measures aimed at preventing teachers from exercising their trade union rights. In addition, we urge the withdrawal of the exclusion of more than 1,600 teachers from public appointments.
The WFTU joins its voice with the struggling teachers and the Teachers' Union, who are fighting for dignified employment, fair working conditions, and the full recognition of union rights for all education workers. The international class-oriented trade union movement stands in solidarity with their struggle and their just demands.
