Community invited to explore health impact of environmental chemicals

SCRANTON, Pa. - As Earth Day approaches on April 22, Geisinger College of Health Sciences invites the community to attend a free, engaging discussion on the impact of environmental exposures on health.

Event: Environmental Chemicals: Our Bodies, Our Communities and Our Health
When: Wednesday, April 15, 5:30 p.m.
Where: Geisinger College of Health Sciences, 525 Pine St., Scranton

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how everyday chemical exposures can influence individual and community well-being. Geisinger researcher Carly McCabe, PhD, will explore emerging research, real-world impacts and steps people can take to reduce risk.

Attendees will learn:

● Common sources of environmental chemical exposure
● The latest evidence linking exposure to health outcomes
● Practical strategies to reduce exposure
● The role of PFAs (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)
● How preventive care supports education, awareness and risk reduction
