ASPPH Announces New Partnership to Advance AI Training for Public Health Students

March 18, 2026

ASPPH is excited to announce a new strategic partnership with the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved (NHIT) aimed at expanding opportunities for public health students and strengthening the future workforce through emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI). Through this collaboration, ASPPH and NHIT will explore initiatives designed to equip students with the skills and training needed to apply AI and other emerging technologies in public health practice.

The partnership with NHIT, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing health equity by engaging underserved communities in the development and use of health information technology, will explore opportunities such as workforce development programming, student engagement initiatives, and applied learning experiences that connect academic public health training with real-world technology applications. Potential activities may include AI-focused internships, research collaborations, and applied projects through NHIT's INSPIRED AI Academy and related programs.

This collaboration also builds on ASPPH's ongoing AI for Public Health initiative, which supports the responsible and ethical integration of artificial intelligence across public health education, research, and practice.
