MENG ISSUES STATEMENT ON THE SUPREME COURT ALLOWING PRESIDENT TRUMP TO END PROTECTIONS FOR HAITIANS AND SYRIANS LIVING IN THE U.S.

QUEENS, NY - U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court decision allowing President Trump to end protections for Haitians and Syrians living in the U.S.

"Haitians and Syrians fled violence, persecution, and terror to seek safety here. Forcing them back-especially as gang violence in Haiti escalates-could be a death sentence, especially for women and girls.

TPS holders did everything by the book, yet the Trump administration - with a green light from the Supreme Court - is ripping their protections away and putting them in harm's way. This isn't just wrong, it's inhumane.

If this administration really cared about getting 'the worst of the worst' out of the country, it wouldn't be targeting people whose only 'crime' is trying to stay alive by following our laws."
