UW-Oshkosh community responds with donations for tornado relief

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh police officer Andrea Monteith, left, and Lieutenant Chance Duenkel, loaded donated essential supplies to be delivered to neighboring residents in the aftermath of a tornado that caused severe damage to homes and businesses.

Following the devastating July 27 tornado that caused widespread damage across Menasha and the greater Fox Cities, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh came together in support of its neighbors, collecting essential supplies through a storm relief donation drive.

Supplies donated through the generosity of the UW-Oshkosh community were delivered this morning to individuals and families across Menasha and the greater Fox Cities.

Classified as an EF3 tornado, the powerful storm July 27 caused severe structural damage to buildings, snapped trees and power lines, disrupted utility service-with some neighborhoods still without power today.

University Police helped gather and deliver the donated food, water, hygiene products, cleaning supplies and other necessities to local relief partners to support individuals and families impacted by the storms.

UWO continues the donation drive through Aug. 7.

Essential items include:

hygiene and personal care items

cleaning supplies and gloves

garbage bags, plastic totes

baby supplies (diapers, wipes, formula)

basic necessities

UWO drop-off locations:

• Human Resources, inside Dempsey Hall, Room 328

• University Police Department lobby, 608 Algoma Blvd.
