We have an important update about the intersection at CR 103 and Woodridge Drive. The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners has approved the conversion of this intersection from a two-way stop to a multi-way (four-way) stop. This decision comes after a comprehensive evaluation by Kimley-Horn, our on-call engineering consultant, with the goal of improving traffic safety and flow in the area.
This modification is designed to reduce accidents and enhance safety for all road users, based on current traffic conditions and accident history.
Matthew Tadlock, Assistant Public Works Director of Planning and Design, shared, "After careful analysis, this change will create a safer environment for all road users in the area."
Message boards will be posted in the area starting in January to alert drivers to the upcoming changes. The intersection modifications were originally scheduled to be completed by January 10, 2025, but due to unforeseen delays, the new estimated completion date is now January 31, 2025.
Sumter County Public Works is committed to enhancing our infrastructure and prioritizing safety for all residents. Stay tuned for more updates and please drive safely as the work continues!
