Congratulations to the 639 local businesses that have received the Kansas City Health Department's 2026 Food Safety Excellence Award.This honor recognizes outstanding food establishments for their commitment to cleanliness, food safety, and protecting public health.
The Food Safety Excellence Award is valid for one year and recognizes establishments that successfully passed rigorous health inspections throughout 2025 while meeting or exceeding Kansas City Food Code standards.
"Behind every Food Safety Excellence Award is a shared commitment to public health," said Kansas City Health Department Director Dr. Marvia Jones. "We applaud the businesses that consistently meet these high standards and the Health Department inspectors who conduct thousands of inspections each year to help ensure food served in Kansas City is safe for everyone."
This year, 639 of the City's 3,730 establishments earned the award, accounting for 17% of Kansas City's permitted food service establishments, a two-point increase from 2025.
From restaurants and bakeries to schools, hospitals, and other food establishments, these businesses represent a broad spectrum of food establishments, helping keep our community safe.
With over 10,000 inspections conducted annually, the Kansas City Health Department remains committed to safeguarding the health of residents and visitors by ensuring safe food practices.
