PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT The Rector Major of the Salesians pays a courtesy visit to the President of Malta


Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, received a courtesy visit at San Anton Palace from the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Fabio Attard, accompanied by his delegation.

Fr Fabio Attard, the 11th successor of St John Bosco, is currently on his first official visit to Malta since his election as Rector Major in March of this year.

The President began by congratulating the Gozitan priest on his new appointment and expressed appreciation for the valuable work carried out by the Salesian community both in Malta and abroad, particularly in their mission among young people.

For his part, Fr Attard outlined the work of the worldwide Salesian community, which he leads across dozens of countries. He highlighted their efforts with young people, refugees, and the marginalized, as well as their role in education and formation. He also emphasized that the Salesians see their mission as one that contributes not only to the strengthening of nations but also to the service of humanity.

To mark the occasion, the Rector Major presented the President with a commemorative token of his visit.

Joining Fr Attard for this courtesy call were Fr Eric Cachia SDB, Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Malta; Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Personal Secretary to the Rector Major; and Fr Jachimowicz Roman Stanislaw, Regional Superior for Europe.
