Celebrate Juneteenth With the City of Henderson: Festival and Art Exhibition

All Events Are Free and Open to the Public

HENDERSON, Nev. (June 16, 2025) - The City of Henderson, in partnership with the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation of Nevada, invites the community to commemorate Juneteenth through a vibrant celebration of culture, history, and art.

Juneteenth Festival at Water Street Plaza

Join us on Thursday, June 19,from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Henderson's annual Juneteenth Festivalat Water Street Plaza. This free event is a dynamic evening filled with music, culture, and community spirit.

The celebration features performances by nationally acclaimed artists, including:

  • Syndee Winters- Best known as "Nala" in The Lion King and for roles in Hamilton, Motown the Musical, and more. She'll bring her one-woman concert Lessons from a Lady, a tribute to Lena Horne, along with her new R&B project, Butterfly Black.

  • Johnny Lee Chapman III - A celebrated spoken word artist and storyteller whose powerful poetry has captivated audiences across the country.

  • Street Corner Renaissance- A fan-favorite a cappella group featured on NBC's The Sing Off and PBS's DooWop Generations, known for their timeless harmonies and performances with musical legends.

Food and community vendors will be onsite. Admission is free and all seating is general admission.


Art Exhibition: "Juneteenth in the Present"

Now on view at Henderson City Hall, "Juneteenth in the Present: An Art Exhibition" explores the meaning of freedom and the ongoing journey toward equality through a powerful collection of visual artworks.

The exhibit runs through July 20 and can be viewed during regular City Hall business hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 240 S. Water Street.

A community reception celebrating the exhibit will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Henderson City Hall. Those in attendance will enjoy a special appearance by Dr. Brittany Soul Sharp, a 16-time award-winning singer, songwriter and poet.
