All four Alameda Health System (AHS) skilled nursing and sub-acute facilities, commonly referred to as nursing homes, have been recognized on Newsweek's America's Best Nursing Homes 2026 list.
The recognition was given to Fairmont Rehabilitation and Wellness and Alameda Hospital Skilled Nursing Facilities which includes Park Bridge Rehabilitation and Wellness, Alameda Hospital Sub-Acute Unit and South Shore Rehabilitation and Wellness.
Under the leadership of Richard Espinoza, chief administrative officer of post-acute services at AHS, AHS's skilled nursing facilities have been ranked among the best nursing homes five times by Newsweek.
This recognition underscores the vital role of the public safety-net health system in delivering exceptional care comparable to that of for-profit institutions. It also reflects the dedication of highly skilled and compassionate team members who treat residents like family, supported by facilities with strong, reliable and effective practices.
Skilled nursing facilities provide long-term care and temporary residence for patients undergoing medically necessary rehabilitation treatment.
Newsweek's America's Best Nursing Homes is presented in collaboration with Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.
