Committee to be empowered to monitor compliance with rules of conduct and conflict of interest regulations for officials of investigative bodies
With the package of drafts, it is proposed to extend the functions of the Corruption Prevention Commission to investigative bodies, the Heads of Anti-Corruption and Investigative Committees and their deputies. The Committee will be empowered to monitor the process of maintaining the rules of conduct and conflict of interest regulations of the aforementioned officials, as provided for by the law for persons holding other public positions. The Acting Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Armenuhi Harutyunyan said this during the regular sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on November 14.
In the first reading, the package of draft laws on Making Addenda to the Law on the Corruption Prevention Commission and the attached laws were debated.
Presenting in detail the regulations envisaged by the legislative package, the key rapporteur noted that the legislative package was proposed in order to adopt a unified approach and to ensure the predictability of the regulations and also the uniformity of their application.
Armenuhi Harutyunyan answered the MPs' questions, presenting clarifications on the unified approach of the proposed regulations.
"An amendment is proposed, whereby the disciplinary proceedings of the heads and the deputy heads, which will refer to the rules of conduct or conflict of interests, will be transferred to the field of the Corruption Prevention Commission," the co-rapporteur, the member of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Lilit Minasyan said, presenting the endorsement of the Committee to the parliamentarians regarding the package of drafts.
