Charles Raiford to lead Community Supervision Operations in Carteret, Craven, Onslow, Pamlico and Pitt counties

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Charles Raiford to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 3.

In his new position, Raiford will oversee Community Supervision operations in Carteret, Craven, Onslow, Pamlico and Pitt counties. The district includes 160 probation/parole officers and staff supervising more than 4,100 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.

"In a career spanning nearly twenty years, Charles Raiford has distinguished himself with his dedication and commitment to teaching and guiding our new officers," said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. "He has been rightfully recognized by Community Supervision for those efforts, and I know he will continue to be a great leader."

Charles Raiford began his career in 2006 as a correctional officer at Neuse Correctional Institution. He became a probation/parole officer (PPO) in 2007 in Duplin County. He served as an intensive officer in Wilson County and probation officer in Wayne County prior to being promoted to chief probation/parole officer (CPPO) in 2013. Most recently, he served as the assistant judicial district manager in District 8. Raiford has specialized in security risk group and sex offender populations. He is a member of the Policy and Supervision Contact committees as well as a part of the DCS Violation Workgroup. In 2023, Raiford was honored as the Division 1 Assistant Judicial District Manager of the Year.

Raiford is graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology. He is currently participating in the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program.<_o3a_p>
