New Mexico residents can attend public universities tuition-free, but college still comes with significant costs-housing, meals, transportation, and everyday expenses-that can add up quickly, creating financial strain and distracting students from their academic goals.
To help ease these burdens, Oracle is teaming up with the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico to provide $1,000 scholarships to students from Doña Ana County. The scholarships will support students who are pursuing degrees at the state's public four-year and community colleges, with special consideration given to students from Santa Teresa, Sunland Park, and surrounding communities.
The Community Foundation will administer the awards through its scholarship program, and recipients will be announced in May.
"Scholarships like these help students stay focused, with decreased worry of the financial commitment of their education. This funding will assist in the completion of their degrees and allow them to move confidently toward their careers," said Terra V. Winter, PhD, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico. "Support for essential expenses can make a meaningful difference in helping students thrive."
"For more than three decades, Oracle has been committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we operate," said Colleen Cassity, vice president of Social Impact at Oracle. "We're proud to partner with the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico to advance education and invest in the success of Doña Ana County's college students."
The scholarship program is part of Oracle and Project Jupiter's ongoing community investments in Doña Ana County and across New Mexico.
