Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union Jiang Feng Meets with the Acting Director of the African Union Institute for Statistics

On 4 December, H.E.Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with Mr. Adoum Gagoloum, Acting Director and Chief Economist of the African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC), in the presence of Minister Zhang Wei, Deputy Head of Chinese Mission.

Amb. Jiang welcomed Mr. Gagoloum's visit, briefed the important decision made by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, introduced the institutional characteristics of China's Five-Year Plans for National Economic and Social Development, and pointed out that statistical work is a key pillar supporting the implementation of China's Five-Year Plans. The Chinese side is willing to share its statistical experience with African countries, strengthen statistical cooperation with the African Union, contributing to Africa's modernization process.

Mr. Gagoloum praised China's achievements in promoting the development of statistical systems and methodologies, and expressed STATAFRIC's willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in areas including statistical infrastructure, statistical systems and methodologies, and the emerging technologies application in statistics, so as to better serve Africa's economic and social development.
