State Police Investigating Suspicious Deaths in the Village of Ca...

On January 6, 2025, at about 2:38 p.m., New York State Police and Carthage Police Department responded to 117 North School Street in the Village of Carthage for a report of two individuals found deceased in a parked vehicle behind the building.

A preliminary investigation revealed Charles G. Fielder Jr., age 51, from Plattsburgh, NY, was in the front driver seat, and Emily E. Ross, age 39, from Carthage, NY, was in the passenger seat. Both were found deceased from undetermined circumstances.

State Police are awaiting an autopsy report from the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the official cause of death. There is no indication of criminal activity or harm to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
