You'll get to choose from a variety of East Bay homes to see features up close and talk with local homeowners. During the tour, hosted in collaboration with Bay Area nonprofit Acterra, attendees can see and learn about the sustainable features and systems firsthand.
All the homes on the tour are partially or fully electrified. Polluting gas appliances have been replaced with efficient, all-electric alternatives like heat pumps and induction stoves, powered by clean electricity from Alameda County's electricity provider, Ava Community Energy, one of the tour's sponsors.
Starting in 2027, the Bay Area Air District will implement new building appliance rules across the nine Bay Area counties. These new clean air standards will prohibit the installation of new gas water heaters and furnaces, providing an opportunity for Bay Area homeowners to upgrade to modern electric heat pumps. At the Green@Home Tour, you can learn about heat pumps and find no-cost resources to help you comply with the new rules when it's time to replace your gas water heater or furnace.
