Abia State Leads Nigeria in Public Spending Efficiency, As Umuahia Hosts AfriCANDO 2026 Conference

God's Own State has done it again! Abia State has emerged as Nigeria's leading state in public spending priorities, scoring an impressive 90.9 out of 100, according to an analysis drawing on Federal Government data. Abia leads the second-ranked state by 5.2 points, demonstrating what is possible when leadership is purposeful, governance is disciplined, and public resources are directed toward meaningful priorities.

I want to commend our hardworking Abia civil servants, commissioners, permanent secretaries, business leaders, and, most importantly, our Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for their extraordinary commitment to transforming our state. The tenacity, dedication and passion I see in these men and women, united by the mission of Making Abia the Best, are truly remarkable.

Our state motto is "Prosperity Through Enterprise." That is a profound economic philosophy: prosperity comes when people work, create, innovate and build. Wealth does not emerge from wishes; it comes through productive enterprise. Abia State is working because Abians are working!

And now, the world is coming to Umuahia! I am delighted to announce that Abia State will host a major international business gathering: AfrICANDO 2026! Under the chairmanship of Hon. Alwell Okey Agbara, our Abia State Diaspora Commission, working with our global partners, is bringing this important U.S.-Africa trade and investment gathering to Nigeria for the first time, with Umuahia as the host city.
