Bridge Replacement on Route 2 Over Route 85 in Colchester

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge demolition and replacement will be performed on Route 2 in Colchester. This project is scheduled to occur on August 21, 2026, and be completed on November 30, 2027. The project 0028-0208 consists of rehabilitation of Bridge No. 03395 & Bridge No. 3396 Route 2 over Route 85 in Colchester.

CTDOT Project No. 0028-0208 was awarded to Empire Paving at a cost of $30,922,404.30 on December 21, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be alternating one-way traffic on Route 85 near Route 2 overpass from Friday, August 21, 2026, to Saturday, December 19, 2026. Traffic control signing patterns and temporary traffic signals will guide motorists through the work zone.
