Ameren Illinois Storm Communications Update

Summary
A severe storm system producing wind speeds up to 70 mph impacted the North-Central and eastern portion of the Ameren Illinois service territory on August 13. Outages peaked at around 26,000 at around 2:45 p.m.

Additional storms moved through the service territory overnight (Aug. 14) and continued into the morning, causing new outages after midnight.

CURRENT SITUATION

• Approximately 18,000 customers are without power at the time of this report. Nearly all of the remaining outages are in the Bloomington-Normal area.
• We have restored almost 28,000 customers since noon yesterday,
• Over 650 resources are engaged, including over 350 line and forestry contractors.
• Current damage assessment indicates 6 sub transmission poles, 22 distribution poles and 27 transmission structures are down throughout the Bloomington-Normal region.
• Replacing a broken power pole is one of the most complex steps in the restoration process and can take several hours depending on damage and site conditions.

CREWS AND CONTRACT RESOURCES

• Crews have been engaged since yesterday to assess and restore the significant damage in McLean County. Crews (damage assessors, line workers, tree trimmers, safety personnel, etc.) are on site and additional crew members are in route from contract companies and other Ameren regions. More than 650 resources are engaged including 250 contractors. Contractors from Tennessee and Georgia are on their way.

OUTAGE RESTORATION

Restoration work is underway; additional resources are expected to arrive today to continue restoration efforts.

• Bloomington/Normal - 15,000 customers without power. Damage is significant and assessment is ongoing to determine the time for repairs and restoration. When restoration times can be determined with confidence, customers will be notified directly.
• Galesburg - ESRT of 2 p.m. today, Aug. 14
• LaSalle - ESRT of 5 p.m. today, Aug. 14
• Peoria - ESRT of 8 p.m. today, Aug. 14
• Eastern - ESRT of 3 p.m. today, 14.
• Champaign/Danville - ESRT late afternoon, Aug. 14. Flooding in Danville area is slowing down restoration.

COMMUNICATION

• We will execute outbound communications to the customers without power in the Bloomington area.
• The Community Relations team is keeping community officials, critical care customers, and emergency management contacts informed about restoration progress.

CUSTOMER SAFETY

• Significant rainfall continues and some areas are experiencing flooding. Avoid any risk of electrical shock and do not enter any flooded areas.

• Stay clear of any downed power lines or poles, as well as brush, shrubs and downed trees that may hide them. Always assume a downed wire is live.

• Customers should report any downed power lines to Ameren Illinois via the app or customer service line (800-755-5000).
