Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Project Moves Into New Phase

Main Street To Maryland Parkway Project Is One Step Closer To Completion

The Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Main Street to Maryland Parkway Project is moving forward with additional work, including paving over the next four weeks. This work will begin with the continued closure of Commerce Street on the south side of Charleston Boulevard, restricting southbound travel. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Charleston Boulevard will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction in the work zone. See the map with closures and detour routes.

Commerce will remain a two-way street from California Avenue to the closure at Charleston during this work In order to maintain access to businesses along Commerce. Originally, Commerce was set to reopen Oct. 26, 2026, following placement of large box culverts, but it would then have to re-close in early November to accommodate preparations for paving, and manhole and drop inlet concrete pours. Instead, the Commerce/Charleston intersection will remain closed on the south side of Charleston so that this work can be completed faster and Commerce can be reopened to traffic by Nov. 20.

Motorists should expect delays. Oakey Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue are recommended alternate routes for east/west travel and Casino Center Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard for north/south travel. Main Street for northbound travel is another option, as the box culvert installation at Main and Charleston is complete. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained during construction.

The project includes the installation of storm drain infrastructure on Charleston from Maryland Parkway to Commerce. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.

Harber Company, Inc. (doing business as Mountain Cascade of Nevada) is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $49 million, funded by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the city of Las Vegas.
