The Forsyth County Fire Department invites Forsyth County students to sign up for a week full of excitement and adventure during the Junior Fire Academy. For students entering seventh and eighth grade this fall, the camp will be held Monday, June 30, through Thursday, July 3.
The camp provides participants with education and experience surrounding the job of a firefighter. Areas of learning include firefighting, search-and-rescue practices, EMS and more.
"The Junior Fire Academy is an exciting challenge that echoes the life of a true firefighter," said Fire Chief Barry Head. "Students have the opportunity to learn lessons about teamwork, leadership, and hard work that will take them far beyond this camp."
The Junior Fire Academy program will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Fire Department Headquarters at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex (3520 Settingdown Road). Campers must be picked up by 4 p.m. daily.
Space for the program is limited. Those interested in attending the Junior Fire Academy must submit a completed application by Friday, May 16. The application is available on the Fire Department page on the Forsyth County website and can be found by clicking here.
