Cameron University will host its fourth annual CU Giving Day on Thursday, April 16, with a goal of securing 285 donors during the 24-hour fundraising event.
Organized by the Cameron University Foundation, CU Giving Day encourages alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members to support scholarships, academic programs, athletics and other university priorities.
"CU Giving Day is a celebration of our remarkable community," said alumni and development director Julie Cunningham. "Through contributions to the Cameron University Foundation, donors empower the next generation of innovators and leaders and create a lasting impact on our students."
One of this year's key initiatives is the Cameron Finish Line Fund, which assists students who are close to graduating but face financial barriers. University officials say that, on average, $677 can help a student return to complete their degree.
Additional fundraising priorities include scholarships, academic program support, and the development of the Todd & Cindy Sanner Alumni Center, which will serve as a central gathering space for alumni and the campus community.
"Each year, CU Giving Day continues to build momentum, and that speaks to the strength of the Aggie community," said Kristine McCarty, Vice President for University Advancement. "We are confident in this year's goal because we have seen what our alumni, faculty, staff and friends can accomplish together - and the very real impact that generosity has on our students' ability to persist, graduate and succeed."
CU Giving Day will also highlight several academic initiatives, including support for student certifications in information technology and cybersecurity, conference travel for science students and resources for education and workforce development programs.
Donors may designate their gifts to specific areas of interest or contribute to general scholarship support.
