After seven years without any increases, Millersville University of Pennsylvania's Council of Trustees approved fee adjustments for the 2026-27 academic year to address inflation and rising operating costs.
Housing fees will rise by 10%, and dining meal plans will increase by 5%. Beginning in 2027-28, Millersville will also implement annual adjustments to housing and dining costs based on the Consumer Price Index.
"We have not increased our costs to students since 2018," said Dr. Nafez Alyan, vice president of finance and administration at Millersville. "Food and housing expenses have risen significantly over that seven-year period. Like many households, we are feeling those impacts. To maintain our financial stability, we must make these adjustments while continuing to manage our resources responsibly."
A priority of the University's 2025-30 strategic plan, Beyond Boundaries, is to ensure Millersville continues to offer an accessible, affordable education that leads to students attaining their educational goal. Goals for the plan include generating additional revenue to support operations and increasing fundraising, including the establishment of scholarships to underwrite students' costs. Seven new scholarships or endowments were approved at the Council of Trustees meeting.
