AUC Chairperson at commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Arta Peace Conference on Somalia

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, joined H.E. President @IsmailOguelleh of #Djibouti, H.E. President @HassanSMohamud of #Somalia, Somali leaders, and other dignitaries at today's commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the #Arta Peace Conference on Somalia.

The Chairperson hailed the commemoration as a vital tribute to the memory of a nation, noting that such moments remind us not only of what was achieved, but also of the sacrifices, courage, & collective wisdom that made progress possible.

He underscored that the Arta Conference marked the rebirth of dialogue after years of fragmentation & despair. Remembering Arta, he said, allows Somalis, & indeed all Africans, to draw lessons on the power of national ownership, community dialogue, inclusive politics in rebuilding nations.
