Against a backdrop of colorful balloons and a theme inspired by the animated film "Up," fourth-year medical students at Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Medicine gathered for one of the most anticipated moments of their careers: Match Day.
As the countdown ended, envelopes were opened, cheers erupted, and emotions overflowed. For the Class of 2026, the day marked more than a milestone - it reflects a calling-to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
"What makes Match Day so meaningful is not just where our students are going, but who they have become. They are prepared to make a difference-in California, across the nation, and around the world," said Tamara Thomas, MD, dean of LLU School of Medicine.
From their first white coat ceremony to demanding clinical rotations, the path to Match Day has been shaped by perseverance, growth, and purpose.
