Emmer Attends Monticello Water Treatment Plant Ribbon Cutting

MONTICELLO, MN - Yesterday, Congressman Tom Emmer attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Monticello's new Water Treatment Plant. September 23, 2026 marked the start of construction of the new facility to provide safe drinking water to the surrounding community.

"This much-needed Water Treatment Plant will make a difference for Monticello and the surrounding communities," said Congressman Emmer. "We're grateful for the local leaders who have worked so hard to get this project underway. It's great to know that those who live and work in Monticello will continue to have access to safe, clean water for years to come."

Monticello, Minnesota is a growing city in Wright County with a population of approximately 14,600 residents, located roughly 41 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Monticello residents connected to city water are served by five municipal wells that feed water into the distribution system. While Monticello's wells meet all Safe Drinking Water Act Standards, testing shows an elevated level of manganese. Because of this, the city is building a new filtration system and water treatment plant.
