Komokata Wins Kozerki Deaf Tennis Open 2025

Rina Komokata

Rina Komokata of the Shimadzu Corporation tennis team SHIMADZU Breakers (Corporate Communication Department) won the women's singles title at the Kozerki Deaf Tennis Open 2025, held in Kozerki, Poland, from August 28 to 30. Ranked 4th in the world, Komokata defeated the world No. 3 player from the Czech Republic in the semifinals, and in the finals beat the world No. 1 player from Poland. This marks her victory in the last international tournament before the Tokyo Deaflympics 2025 (November 15-26). Due to her partner's injury, she withdrew from the women's doubles.

After the match, Komokata commented: "In the final, I faced the same opponent I played in the Polish tournament back in April. When I was leading, I tried to go on the offensive more, but ended up making too many mistakes. I aim to strengthen my net play and build confidence ahead of the Deaflympics. I feel a bit relieved to have won, but I won't succumb to the pressure and will keep pushing myself hard!"
