BURBANK, CALIFORNIA - Today, February 6. 2026, U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30) stopped by Lou The French On The Block, a Black-owned French patisserie, bakery, and coffee shop located in Burbank to meet owner and Head Chef Laurent "Lou" Correa. While there, she and Lou talked discussed the success of Lou's bakery and the support that the federal government can provide for small and Black-owned businesses.
"CA-30's food scene is second to none, and that's because of businesses like Lou. They create good-paying jobs, support our local communities and economy, and help make Los Angeles an even better place to live, work, and raise a family," said Representative Laura Friedman (CA-30). "I'll continue to carry the voices of small business to Congress as I fight for what they need to succeed."
Lou The French On The Block opened in June 2016, and has since become known for their fresh-baked croissants, eclairs, tarts, quiches, and French-inspired sandwiches, which they make using quality ingredients. The business is popular with Angelenos, with lines for pastries often going out the door during the weekend.
Friedman is a champion of small businesses in her district and in Los Angeles as a whole. Last November, she visited Dialog Cafe to talk to the West Hollywood eatery's owner about the impact of rising costs and tariffs on their operations. Friedman also visited the Port of Los Angeles early last month to see first-hand how the Trump administration's economic policies are impacting the flow of goods coming in and out of the U.S., and its impact on connected jobs.
