Bietigheim-Bissingen, June 10, 2026 - The Dürr Group honors particularly innovative, customer-focused, or sustainable contributions from its employees with the Heinz Dürr Award. Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexandra Dürr and Karoline Dürr, daughters of the award's initiator Heinz Dürr, presented the prestigious awards to representatives of the five winning teams during an international management meeting.
Three teams were recognized in the Innovation category. The "Paint Shop of the Future" team impressed the jury with its concept for a highly flexible and efficient paint shop. Another Dürr team received an award for its innovative battery cell filling system. The liquid required in battery cells is explosive and toxic, making the filling process complex. With the newly developed machine, battery cells can now be filled quickly and safely. In addition, a team from the Group subsidiary HOMAG was recognized for its HOMAG INTELLIGENCE software platform. The software connects all processes in furniture manufacturing - from design and sales to production.
In the Sustainability category, a Dürr team won with the further development of the EcoSupply P special paint supply system. In the painting process, it can drastically reduce paint loss, purging medium consumption, and purging times. This not only lowers costs but also protects the environment.
In the third category, Customer Experience, another HOMAG team impressed the jury. In May 2025, its members designed an innovation area of more than 400 square meters at LIGNA, the world's leading trade fair for woodworking in Hanover. Using AI applications, special lighting and sound effects, as well as a futuristic atmosphere, they took visitors on a digital journey into space to showcase HOMAG's innovative strength and forward-looking approach.
Dr. Lars Friedrich, Head of the Automotive division, hosted the award ceremony together with Dr. Daniel Schmitt, Head of the Woodworking division. Each winning team received prize money of €7,500.
