NJBIZ RECOGNIZES BERKELEY COLLEGE PROFESSOR AMONG
HEALTH CARE HEROES FOR EXCELLENCE IN NURSING EDUCATION

NJBIZ recognized Barbara Crump, PhD, RN, Professor, Nursing, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, among the recipients of the Health Care Heroes awards during a ceremony on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at The Marigold Hotel in Somerset, NJ. The program recognized 44 New Jersey individuals and organizations across 13 categories.
"The Health Care Heroes awards program was created in an effort to recognize excellence, promote innovation, and honor the efforts of individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of healthcare in New Jersey," said NJBIZ in an article announcing the honorees.
Crump was recognized in the Education - Individual category for her work as a nursing professor and was one of four educators in New Jersey to earn this achievement.

"Dr. Barbara Crump is a true example of an educator who not only teaches but also motivates and inspires her students," said Patricia Greer, JD, Provost, Berkeley College. "Dr. Crump's success as an educator lies in her ability to easily relate to her students as they pursue their future nursing careers. Her wisdom and patience serve to make her an exceptional educator for her students at Berkeley College."
Crump published her memoir, From GED to PhD: My Journey Toward Becoming an Extraordinary Woman, in 2025, for which she won an International Impact Book Award. She has more than 30 years of leadership and practice in oncology, hospice, palliative care, and education. Crump was pivotal in developing and implementing palliative care programs with the Veterans Health Care System. Her clinical work is featured in various journals including the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.
Crump holds a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Peter's University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Paterson University.
