Speaker Heastie Statement on Passage of the Constitutional Amendment on Redistricting

The recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court has made it clear that New York State needs to be able to react and respond to protect the voices of New Yorkers. Amending the state constitution will allow us to protect our communities of interest and ensure that the many, diverse voices of the people continue to be heard in Washington.
