Grassley Welcomes Over $9.5 Million in Federal Funding to Support Iowa Communities

WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) welcomed news from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that Iowa will receive over $9.5 million in federal funding to benefit Iowans across the state.

"Iowans showed their resilience after storms struck the state in 2020, 2024 and 2025. These FEMA funds will help the Hawkeye state continue to rebuild," Grassley said. "In the Senate, I'll keep working to ensure the people of Iowa get the support they need."

Details on the FEMA awards follow:

  • Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management: $580,889.65 to fund costs related to the management of Public Assistance (PA) grants as a result of severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in 2024.
  • Lyon County: $2,290,229.05 to fund secondary roads/permanent road repairs as a direct result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
  • City of Rock Valley: $2,491,040.92 to fund content replacement as a result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
  • Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative: $1,721,184.20 to fund permanent repairs as a result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2025.
  • Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative: $424,281.03 to fund the repair or replacement of utility poles, conductors and other items as a result of a severe winter storm in 2025.
  • MI Energy: $419,651.54 to fund utility protective measures/mitigation reconductoring as a result of the 2020 derecho.
  • Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative: $955,233.00 to fund utility protective measures/upgrades following the 2020 derecho.
  • Southwest Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Electric: $355,617.54 to fund utility protective measures/retrofit following the 2020 derecho.
  • City of Hawarden: $289,980 to fund property acquisitions, elevations, mitigation reconstruction and floodproofing as a result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
