Burbank Celebrates 'The Power of Parks and Recreation' throughout July

Month-long celebration highlights the positive impact of parks and recreation

Burbank, CA (July 1, 2026) - This July, celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department (Department). Discover how parks and recreation bring the community together through fun, inclusive opportunities for all ages and abilities. Enjoy summer concerts, community park events, drop-in sports, adaptive sports and inclusive recreation opportunities, nature walks, volunteer projects throughout the parks, and the Fan Zone celebration in Downtown Burbank. Together, these experiences showcase the many ways parks and recreation strengthen Burbank every day.

The Department is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting the community to share their experiences, memories and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. From summer camps and aquatics programs to community events, sports leagues, cultural activities, and time spent in neighborhood parks, there are countless ways to celebrate.

"Burbank's parks, sports fields, and arts and cultural spaces are what bring people together, inspire creativity, and provide places for residents of all ages and abilities to stay active and make lasting memories. During Parks and Recreation Month, I encourage everyone to explore a neighborhood park, attend a community event, try a new program, and discover all that our Parks and Recreation Department has to offer," said Mayor Tamala Takahashi.

"As we celebrate Parks and Recreation Month, we recognize the extraordinary role our parks and programs play in the life of our city. Burbank Parks and Recreation embodies the power of community connection, creating opportunities for learning, play, fitness, cultural enrichment, and environmental stewardship that bring us together. I encourage everyone to explore the many programs, events, and amenities available throughout Burbank and experience firsthand the positive impact they have on our daily lives. And I invite you to join me in honoring the dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners whose hard work ensures our parks and facilities remain welcoming, vibrant, and accessible for all," said Marisa Garcia, Parks and Recreation Director.

NRPA and Burbank Parks and Recreation encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to post why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them on social media with #ThePowerOf.
