LAS VEGAS, NevadaN.V. - Bank of America today announced that Wendy Franco has been named president of its Las Vegas market. Franco succeeds Al Welch, who led the market for 10 years and recently retired from the company after 37 years.
As president and head of the market, Franco will connect clients, teammates and communities to the full power of the franchise and drive collaboration across the company's eight lines of business. She'll lead Bank of America's efforts to grow market share by building strong local connections and identifying opportunities to deepen and expand client relationships.
"Wendy's broad banking experience, strong client focus and deep commitment to the community make her the right leader for Las Vegas," said Brian Moynihan, chair and chief executive officer of Bank of America. "Her leadership will help us build on the momentum underway in Las Vegas to grow market share and deepen the connections we have with clients, teammates and community partners. We thank Al for his remarkable 37 years of service with the company."
In addition to her role as president, Franco serves as Business Banking market executive. She leads a team of relationship managers focused on delivering insights and strategic financial solutions to help companies improve cash flow, invest for the future and grow.
Franco brings more than 20 years of financial services experience and has served in a variety of frontline and leadership roles, including starting her career as teller and growing into roles including personal banker, financial center manager, small business banker and small business consultant manager. She has been actively engaged in the local leadership team.
A Northern Nevada native, Franco serves on the board of directors for Future Smiles, a nonprofit that provides dental care to students at local Title oneTitle I schools. She also is executive sponsor for the bank's Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership & Advancement (HOLA) employee network in Las Vegas.
Franco earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is currently enrolled in the Pacific Coast Banking School, a graduate-level banking leadership program.
