Oklahoma State University Vice President of Student Affairs Brent A. Marsh has announced the appointment of Dr. Delton Gordon as senior director of housing and residential life.
Gordon, who began his housing career at OSU, brings nearly two decades of leadership experience in housing operations, student engagement, crisis management and strategic planning.
Gordon returns to OSU on Jan. 6 following his service at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, where he has led housing operations since 2024. During his extensive career in higher education, he has directed residential life, facilities management, capital planning, emergency response and key campus services.
He is known for effectively managing complex operational challenges - such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning failures, water line breaks and mold mitigation - by coordinating cross-functional teams to safeguard student well-being and minimize disruptions. Gordon has also developed forecasting tools for occupancy analytics that strengthen enrollment management efforts by aligning housing utilization with admissions cycles and yield trends.
"OSU's mission is anchored in supporting students through exceptional experiences and care," Dr. Marsh said. "Dr. Gordon's career reflects a deep commitment to that work. His leadership demonstrates a sustained dedication to doing what is right for students when it matters most."
Gordon emerged as the top finalist through a competitive search process that incorporated feedback from campus stakeholders, student affairs professionals and student leaders.
Prior to his role at USAO, Gordon served as the senior housing officer at Arkansas Tech University (2018-24) and previously worked at OSU as a residence area manager and later as an assistant director for residential life.
Gordon remains active in regional and national professional organizations. He currently serves as president of the Southwest Association of College and University Housing Officers and participates in National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region IV-West.
"I am honored to return to OSU and to engage with a community so deeply committed to student growth and success," Gordon said. "I look forward to connecting with students, staff, faculty and campus partners to advance our shared mission of creating transformative residential and co-curricular experiences."
Gordon earned a bachelor's degree in family relations and child development from OSU, a master's degree in counselor education from Emporia State University in Kansas, and a Ph.D. in leadership with a concentration in education administration from the John Wesley School of Leadership at Carolina University in North Carolina.
