The sweep of the Green and White (12-27, 5-12 WAC) marks nine-straight wins for the Purple and White (27-15, 12-6 WAC) and the second-consecutive conference sweep. Including the back-to-back sweeps, Tarleton State has now won four straight series including 2-1 series wins over then No. 24/RV Grand Canyon and then No. 1 in the WAC Seattle U.
Tarleton State is now just two games out from first place in the conference sitting in the No. 2 spot with UT Arlington trailing the Texans by two-and-a-half games. In the event of a tie with Grand Canyon, the Stephenville squad has the 2-1 series tiebreaker and the point differential 11-6 over the Lopes.
Utah Valley jumped out to another quick lead 1-0 in the first inning but once again it didn't mean much in the end as Tarleton State scored a pair in the second to take the 2-1 lead and never looked back.
In the top of the first, Peyton Hall tripled to center driving in Britney Moreno to make it 1-0 Wolverines, their only lead and run of the game.
The bottom of the second saw the Texans strike up a pair of runs as singled through the right-side scoring from third to tie things up 1-1. then reached on a fielder's choice as was able to come in 60 feet to give the Purple and White the 2-1 advantage and the eventual final.
For the Texans, earned her sixth start in the circle for Tarleton State this season and marked her 12th overall appearance during the 2025 campaign. Marquez picked up her third win of her final collegiate career as she moved to 3-1 on the season. She allowed just one run (unearned) on six hits across five innings while she struck out a trio and walked just a single batter. took over for the final two innings and locked things down allowing just three hits while she struck out one and walked a pair as well. Rehmeier picked up the save, her third of her senior campaign.
For the Wolverines, Payge Armendariz (L, 0-7) took her seventh loss of the season as she tossed 3.1 IP. During her time on the field for the Green and White she allowed two runs (both earned) on six hits while she walked one and struck out two. Avery Sapp then took over for the final two-and-a-thirds and allowed no runs on no hits while she walked one and sat down two.
Tarleton State is set to return to action on Tuesday as the Texans will hit the road once again, this time making their way south for a midweek doubleheader with Lamar. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The doubleheader clash with air live on the wavelengths of ESPN+ and fans can also follow along through live stats. Lamar (Southland) is currently 25-19 on the season with a conference record of 13-8. The Cardinals are currently riding a three-game win streak as they are coming off of a Southland series sweep taking the series 3-0 over Northwestern State. The Red and White took the doubleheader 6-2, 4-1 before completing the sweep the following day with a 5-3 victory.
