Members of the Bismarck Fire Department recently joined the Mandan Fire Department along with other fire departments in the region for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
The event honors the 343 firefighters, along with police officers and paramedics, who lost their lives while responding to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Participants climb the equivalent of 110 stories-the height of the Twin Towers-as a way to remember and pay tribute to their sacrifice.
For the Bismarck Fire Department, it's a chance to reflect, remember, and stand alongside others in honoring the courage and selflessness shown on that day.
