WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) released the following statement after voting against the Republican-led continuing resolution.

"Once again, House Republicans have abandoned their duty to govern and are now solely responsible for the looming government shutdown.

"Since the start of the funding process, Democrats have worked in good faith to pass a bipartisan bill that lowers everyday costs and safeguards access to healthcare.

"Instead, Republicans have chosen to advance a reckless, short-term funding bill without Democratic input-knowing full well it lacks the support to keep the government open.

"It's time for Republicans to return to the negotiating table and work with Democrats to keep the government running and preserve critical Affordable Care Act subsidies that make health insurance affordable for millions of Americans."
